Uruguay has a thriving business climate, based on strong market policy and low levels of corruption. The government has reiterated its commitment to long-term macroeconomic policy and has actively promoted foreign investment in the country. Despite the international crisis the gross domestic product (GDP) in Uruguay has grown exponentially since 2005. In 2010 was 8.5% and grew 6.8 percent between the first quarter of 2010 and the same period of 2011. By 2012, the government estimates a GDP growth of 4 percent.  

Tourism: In 2005, 1,917,049 tourists entered the country in 2010 were 2,407,676 and in 2011 the figure climbed to 3,000,000. Tourism ranks as the leading sector of foreign income for the country.
